I'm done class for today but I'm left with one ringing thought in my head.
Question of the day:
Do professors have the right to strike?
My opinion, you ask?
I'm definitely on the fence about this one.
In all honesty, if my professors were to walk off the job for half a semester, I'd probably kick back, relax & take it easy.
But I'd be hella angry.
Hello? I'm paying a lot of money to be here. And I actually ENJOY learning.
For them to just say "oh, we don't feel like teaching anymore." just seems .. selfish.
But then, I also understand the frustration of not being granted academic & intellectual freedom.
Professors are paid to do research and draw conclusions based upon what they've witnessed. They're supposed to have opinions.
It's unfair to deny them of the right to speak out about their findings.
And then I go back to my own selfish perspective and I think- it's all good and mighty that they do all of this research, but that part of their job is irrelevant to students; we mostly just care if they show up and teach us the material we need to know to move forward.
Like I said guys, I have no idea what the "correct" answer is to this.
I'm so confused!
On that note,
I'd like to leave you with a feel good tune so you don't fret over all of this academic drama.

You're The One That I Want - John Trovolta & Olivia Newton John [that's right! Grease soundtrack]
I chose this today to take me back to my high school days, where everything was simple and sexy.
Keepin' it real,
